since about 2007, i've been collecting typewriters. while i'm quite content to just admire the beauty of these machines around my home, i thought it might be fun to gather members of the whitehorse community together for a letter writing party. in october 2015 i organized the first letter writing party at a local cafe. the response was overwhelming as people young and old came to scribe notes in cards, on postcards, and type away on a variety of typewriters i brought in.
it was obvious to me this needed to continue. snail mail is alive and well in the yukon, so i've started the letter writing club YT. monthly meetings will occur during the fall and winter months. the venues will change and sometimes themes will adjust the concept (i.e. holiday card writing, valentine's day, etc.) but at its core it's all about taking the time to say it with snail mail.
